2023 was El Paso’s hottest year on record with a little over 4 inches of rain. What kind of spring bloom will we have in 2024?
Weather forecasters are saying that ‘Super El Niño’ is here. How will it affect El Paso and the surrounding area? Some say that we will get more rain, but the ten day forecast calls only for a 35% chance of rain on February 16.
This weekend and the rest of February should bring great weather for a hike in the desert. I took the pictures below at Franklin Mountains State Park on January 28, 2024. Learn more about each species including what the flowers look like by clicking the picture.
There are a number of recommended places in El Paso where you can learn more about desert plants along interpretive paths with signage here at the El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens along the walkway to our Chihuahuan Desert Exhibit, at the Centennial Museum at UTEP and at the El Paso Museum of Archaeology near the junction of Loop 375 and Texas Highway 54.
