John Rezendes
The other day I when I was scanning my emails, I looked over a Frontera Land Alliance Newsletter and found a link to a podcast that sounded very interesting. The speaker, Jon Rezendes, was someone I had never met before, but we shared a number of El Paso conservation connections especially with my longtime friend and fellow advocate Janae’ Reneaud Field, Executive Director of Frontera and another Eco Warrior, the late Judy Ackerman. Within 5 minutes of listening to Jon on the podcast I knew right away that he was someone I should meet.
Jon’s passion and advocacy efforts in El Paso are very motivating. I know that I am writing to the choir when I write this blog, but we all need a good doze of motivation especially during these extremely challenging times in trying to protect the only home we and future generations will ever know, planet Earth.
Listen to this podcast with Jon and be inspired.
Castner Range and North Franklin Peak
Jon Rezendes is former US Army infantry officer and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He served as a platoon leader in Afghanistan and an instructor at the Florida Phase of Ranger School before the “needs of the Army” stationed him at Fort Bliss, Texas. Despite being born and raised in New England, Jon has a lifelong infatuation with desert mountains. The city of El Paso filled that need and became his adopted home. Since leaving service, Jon works for a decarbonization-focused software company and dedicates his life to the preservation of wilderness with his wife, a certified associate wildlife biologist and PhD student, and their two children.
