Continue your adventure…

After you visit the El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens we hope that you and your family will want to continue your adventure by visiting parks and other natural areas to further your connection with the natural world.  Zoo education partners at Franklin Mountains State Park are offering the following activities over the next month.

Sun. Feb. 13th 4:30pm

Sunset Hike – Upper Sunset Trail (one-way)

We are getting somewhat in the mood for valentine’s day with a sunset hike (on upper sunset trail…ha!).

This is a 1.3mile moderate hike; we will meet at the end loop (campsite #39) and carpool back to the south trailhead.

Park entrance and activity fee are required:  $8 anyone 13 years old and up, $3 TX State Park Pass holders, $1 children.

Sat. Feb. 19th

Copper Mine Tours

There are 4 tours going on: 8:30am, 11am, 1:30pm, and 3:30pm

These are short easy hike; the first tour of the day is a lantern-lit tour.

We will meet at the West Cottonwood Spring trailhead.

Park entrance and activity fee are required:  $8 anyone 13 years old and up, $3 TX State Park Pass holders, $1 children.

Sun. Feb. 20th 8:30am

Peak Challenge – North Peak

This is an 8mile strenuous/difficult hike.

We will meet at West Cottonwood Spring trailhead.

Park entrance and activity fee are required:  $8 anyone 13 years old and up, $3 TX State Park Pass holders, $1 children.

Sun. Feb. 20th 9am

Women Hike – Upper Sunset Loop

This is a 3mile easy to moderate hike; we will start at upper sunset going north and looping back to our vehicles on Tom Mays trail.

We will meet at Upper Sunset south trailhead (picnic sites 1-5).

Park entrance and activity fee are required:  $8 anyone 13 years old and up, $3 TX State Park Pass holders, $1 children.

Fri. Feb. 25th 2pm

Ask the Expert: Border Coalition for Fitness

This is an online Q&A program hosting this group that offers different walking challenges throughout the year and promote an active life-style.

Sat. Feb. 26th 4pm

Bat Walk

We will be walking around the visitor center with a device that detects bat calls, during the walk we’ll learn about our local bat species.

Park entrance and activity fee are required:  $8 anyone 13 years old and up, $3 TX State Park Pass holders, $1 children.

Sun. Feb. 27th 8:30am

Last Sunday Hike – Agave Loop

This is a 1.5 mile moderate hike.

We will meet at West Cottonwood Spring trailhead.

Park entrance and activity fee are required:  $8 anyone 13 years old and up, $3 TX State Park Pass holders, $1 children.
