Video Portrait: A morning at the El Paso Zoo

This is a picture of our Malayan tapirs enjoying a mid-morning siesta.

The Zoo is certainly a very interesting place these days now that we have been closed for a little over eight months. I doubt that many of our animals have ever experienced anything like this before with their only daily contact being with their keepers. Some keepers say that our animals miss all the attention they get from zoo visitors. The day that I took this video everyone seemed pretty happy to me.

As you watch this 21 minute video there are a few captions, some appropriate music and mainly natural sounds from the Zoo, to help all of our friends in El Paso and beyond stay connected with our animals during this challenging time in our nation’s history. Please contact us with your feedback and encourage your friends to follow our blog with their email addresses.

What animals do you want to see more of? Do you have animal stories that you can share with us?

Stay safe everyone, be strong, spread some kindness, volunteer and remember our amazing family of conservation ambassadors from around the world that live at the El Paso Zoo.
