Online zoo adventure programs
As the El Paso Zoo closed its gates on March 13, 2020, Zoo staff started to brainstorm how to be relevant in this time of social distancing and self-quarantine. The El Paso Zoo Education team, with the help of collections and vet staff, Wildlife Amphitheater staff and marketing put on eight episodes of Sofa Safaris and started blogging numerous times each week covering topics on conservation, animals found at the Zoo and activities to learn about wildlife and wild places!
We realized immediately that, especially while stuck at home, it is important to continue learning and connecting to nature. To help accomplish this, the El Paso Zoo will now be offering distance learning opportunities for your class or group, bringing the Zoo to you while we are closed to the public! These free online Zoo Adventure Programs are open to all ages and groups and include learning from an Education Specialist about the Zoo, wildlife, and wild places. During the program, your group will have the opportunity to ask questions and even meet some of our education ambassador animals.
All you need to participate is a computer with high-speed internet, webcam, speakers, and maybe a projector screen or large monitor for larger/family groups so that everyone can watch together. We will work with you before the program to ensure that connectivity is successful.
We encourage you to register your class for an online Zoo Adventure Program with us so that we can help introduce to your group the wonders of wildlife from around the world!
